Job summary

VoltaGrid is seeking a Plant Engineer in the San Antonio area to oversee the technical, operational, reliability, and safety performance of a designated power generation facility. You will act as the senior on-site engineering authority, drive uptime improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires leadership in troubleshooting, maintenance optimization, and coordinating with customers and site personnel to deliver reliable power solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in power generation, industrial operations, plant engineering, field operations, or related technical environments.
• Strong understanding of power generation systems, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, controls, instrumentation, and plant operations.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.
• Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Strong safety mindset with knowledge of industrial safety practices, regulatory requirements, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for plant operations as the primary technical contact for customer representatives and site personnel.
• Monitor plant performance and respond to power interruptions, equipment failures, and operational abnormalities.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and coordinate corrective actions to restore service safely and efficiently.
• Conduct root cause analysis for power disruptions, equipment failures, and operational incidents.
• Develop corrective action plans, incident reports, and reliability improvement recommendations.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across the facility.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
• Oversee maintenance activities, inspections, testing programs, and equipment lifecycle management.
• Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize reliability and asset availability.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams during commissioning, deployment, and plant operations.
• Analyze plant operating data, reliability trends, and equipment performance metrics.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, cost performance, and customer satisfaction.
• Prepare and maintain operational reports, maintenance records, technical procedures, incident investigations, and compliance documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to plant personnel, technicians, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Support rotational coverage, emergency response, and non-standard working hours as needed.
