Job summary

Charleston County is seeking a qualified professional to perform commercial and residential plan review and provide technical guidance to inspectors and design professionals. The role requires strong problem solving, communication, and customer service skills to support daily operations.

Ideal candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field and pursue ICC certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field is required.
• Must currently hold or obtain multiple ICC certification exams within six months (Residential, Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical).
• Five or more years of work experience in construction, plan review, building code enforcement, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide plan review and technical guidance to inspectors, design professionals, contractors, and owners.
• Coordinate with the Chief and Senior Plan Reviewers to resolve inspection problems.
• Support general office duties, phone inquiries, filing, and documentation.
• Maintain excellent customer service and professional demeanor in all interactions.
