Job summary

The City of Anaheim Planning and Building Department is seeking a Senior Plans Examiner (Senior Plan Check Engineer) to perform advanced plan checking of major structures and provide consultation to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners.

This position reviews complex commercial, industrial, mixed-use, institutional, and high-rise developments for compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and engineering standards while serving as a trusted technical resource

Qualifications

• Four years of professional journey-level experience in architectural and structural analysis and plan checking.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in architecture or civil engineering.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education acceptable to perform essential duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced plan checking of major structures for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
• Provide consultation to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners throughout the development review process.
• Review complex commercial, industrial, mixed-use, institutional, and high-rise developments for code conformity.
• Serve as a technical resource to ensure projects are safe and code-compliant.
