Job summary

The City of Westminster, CO is seeking a Plans Examiner/Senior Plans Examiner to review residential, multi-family and commercial building plans for compliance with city codes. You will interpret building ordinances and communicate requirements to builders, architects, and homeowners.

This role collaborates across divisions, mentors junior staff, and supports the plan review process from pre-application through approval.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with two years of college in engineering/construction.
• ICC Residential or Commercial Plans Examiner Certification required.
• Preferred certifications include Commercial Plans Examiner Certification.

Responsibilities

• Examine plans for residential, multi-family and commercial structures for code compliance.
• Explain building ordinances and code regulations to builders, architects and homeowners.
• Assist with building permit applications and provide material/method guidance.
• Coordinate plan reviews with other divisions and support the review process.
