Job summary

City of Peoria, AZ seeks a Plans Examiner II in Development & Engineering to perform advanced plan reviews of complex buildings, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems for code compliance. You will coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and public stakeholders, maintain accurate records, and respond to inquiries with clear explanations.

Qualifications include 4–6 years in plan review, a two-year college program, and ICC certifications; a valid Arizona Class D license

Qualifications

Two-year college program or equivalent combinations resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge or skills.
ICC Building Plan Review NFPA 101 Plan Review certification or equivalent within one year of hire.
ICC Building Plans Examiner Certification preferred; two ICC certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

Coordinate work with other staff, project managers and departments.
Advise engineers, architects, contractors, and public officials on code changes and interpretations.
Plan review activities including records, tracking, and responding to inquiries.
Assist with development counter and explain City policies and codes.
