Job description

We have a long-term employment opportunity for a Senior Planner based in Manchester. You will support the project management team through the timely provision of an efficient and effective planning, scheduling, and project performance reporting function.

Contracting background preferred.

Your key activities will include:

1. Manage the development of a programme to an appropriate level of detail.
2. Manage the updating and monitoring of progress within the working programme.
3. Support construction teams on the use of short-term programmes.
4. Resource and cost load programmes, and coach/support others.
5. Evaluate supply chain programmes, and coach/support others.
6. Introduce and analyse change in a programme, and coach/support others.
7. Produce and communicate programme information in various forms, using routine and bespoke programme outputs, and coach/support others.
8. Establish and maintain internal and external project controls reporting.
9. Introduce and evaluate risk in programmes.
10. Undertake the analytical assessment of programmes.
11. Coach and mentor others in the use of planning software, principally P6, ASTA, & MSP.
12. Undertake entitlement analysis.

Required Experience:

• Previous experience as a Senior Planning Engineer, involved in substantial civil engineering projects.
• Experience of a broad range of civil engineering construction, with proven commercial knowledge and understanding of methods and typical production rates.
• Proven ability to lead a planning team in a P6 enterprise environment, producing and managing comprehensive, robust programmes.
• Thorough experience and understanding of programming techniques, with the ability to coach others.
• Effective communication skills at all levels, with experience in coaching others.
• Contractual understanding, particularly of the NEC form of contract.
