Job summary

H&MV Engineering is seeking a Senior Planner to build and maintain project programs across Tender, PCSA, Contract, Execution, Design and Commissioning. The role involves gathering progress data, modeling delays and variations, and mentoring junior planners.

You will attend client meetings and coordinate with subcontractors to integrate timelines into the master program. You will report to planning leadership, ensure compliance with contract conditions, and contribute to strategic planning

Qualifications

• Experience using Primavera P6 to build and update project programs.
• Strong understanding of project scope, construction methodology and risks.
• Knowledge of critical path activities and relationships.
• Experience with forensic delay analysis and delay modelling in P6.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain project programs (Tender/PCSA/Contract/Execution/Design/Commissioning) using program software.
• Attend internal weekly project meetings and provide progress updates.
• Record and model delays and variations in the program.
• Mentor junior Planners and support planning staff development.

About the Role:

A Senior planner is responsible for building the Project program for their assigned projects and maintaining it regularly through the gathering of project progress and the modeling of change as it occurs, i.e. addition of variations and delays or modifications to relationship logic or durations as necessary. The Senior planner acts as a support function to the project team, helping to measure performance, identify risks and ensure compliance with the contract conditions in relation to change management. Senior Planners are expected to be able to work independently in accordance with all Company Procedures. Senior Planners have a responsibility for the mentorship and development of more junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Building of project programs (Tender/PCSA/Contract/Execution/Design/Commissioning) using program software.
• Attendance at internal weekly project meetings.
• Gathering of accurate progress weekly including accurate start/finish dates.
• Recording and modeling delays within the program.
• Recording and modeling variations within the program.
• Supporting group senior management through accurate reporting and identification/escalation of project risk.
• Advancing departmental goals by actively engaging in strategic initiatives.
• Mentoring of Planners and Junior Planners.
• Attending client facing program meetings and workshops.
• Liaising with subcontractors to include their timelines and progress into the master program.
• Participating in internal planning workshops and training programs.
• Attending sites as often as necessary but at a minimum 1 site visit per 4 week period per project.
• Reporting to Lead Planners & Planning Manager on project and program status and providing regular updates on same.
• Correction of errors in program as directed by Lead Planners & Planning Manager
• Attendance at weekly planning department meetings
• Participation in initiatives designed to develop capabilities within the planning department and the training of graduate planners.
• Maintain good documentation and file management both in P6 database and ACC.
• Reporting regularly, internally and externally (progress updates/EHRA/4wk Lookaheads/Critical Path as well as any additional reports as required).
• Adhering to all Planning Department standards and procedures.
• Attending internal weekly project meetings.

Experience & Qualifications

• Experience of using Primavera P6 and a commitment to improving knowledge of same.
• Full Knowledge of the projects within their portfolio (Project Scope, construction methodology, project risks etc.)
• In depth understanding of the project programs within their portfolio in particular Critical Paths activities and relationships.
• A working knowledge of Forensic Delay Analysis and Delay modelling in P6.
