Job summary

Doña Ana County seeks a Senior Planner-Lead to provide advanced land use planning services under the Chief Planner - Current Planning. You will guide the Current Planning Division, manage staff, and oversee project scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring compliance with county ordinances and state statute.

The role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication, and a proven ability to coordinate with multiple departments, consultants, and community stakeholders to advance development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in community or regional planning, public administration, landscape architecture, architecture, or related field required.
• Master's degree in planning or related field is desired.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and assists with the preparation of Current Planning Staff reports, presentations and makes recommendations on complex technical issues, development proposals, and policy reports.
• Assists with annual preparation of the Community Development Work Program and makes division budget recommendations.
• Collects, analyzes complex information and data and prepares reports.
• Organizes and facilitates public outreach/participation/education for county initiatives.
• Develops and reviews short- and long-range work plans, procedures, and schedules for the Current Planning Division.
