The Boone County Planning Commission is interested in hiring a Senior Planner. We are looking for a long-range focused individual who works well independently and in leading collaborative community discussions on a wide range of planning and community development projects. This position assists the Director of Community Development Services in performing high level land use planning and community development functions including comprehensive planning, historic preservation, land conservation, economic development, infrastructure planning and data analytics work. The perfect candidate will be capable of effectively communicating information and policies to and with community representatives.
Boone County, Kentucky is part of the Cincinnati MSA. It is the leader in population, housing and employment growth in Northern Kentucky and home to CVG Airport. The community has a diverse and growing economic base of manufacturing, logistics, retail, office, educational, tourism and recreational businesses.
Qualifications include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in planning or related field and at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in land use planning or community/economic development fields. Demonstrated technical, interpersonal, public speaking, organizational, computer (GIS), research, and written skills are required.
Certification in planning, historic preservation or economic development is preferred but not a requirement. Experience with a Certified Local Government Program is a plus but not required. Training can be provided for a candidate who demonstrates a strong desire and ability to achieve career enhancing certifications and advanced knowledge of preservation programs.
Starting salary range is approximately $58,000-$71,000 a year dependent on qualifications and a generous benefits package includes excellent medical benefits at minimal premium and no deductible cost, zero employee cost dental coverage, paid time off, 12.5 Holidays annually, and CERS retirement benefits.
