Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Planner to lead end-to-end planning, forecasting, and inventory strategy for the company’s E‑commerce business. The role serves as a strategic thought partner to the VP of Operations, Merchandising leadership, and cross‑functional teams, driving both long‑range and in‑season decision‑making to optimize growth, profitability, and inventory efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Leadership
  • Own and lead seasonal, annual, and in‑season planning for the E‑commerce channel, ensuring alignment with merchandising, financial, and growth strategies.
  • Act as a key advisor to the VP of Operations and Merchandising leadership on sales, margin, inventory, and risk/opportunity trade‑offs.
  • Develop and execute strategic seasonal buy frameworks that balance growth, margin, cash flow, and inventory productivity.
  • Drive long‑range and scenario planning to support business growth, new initiatives, and changing market dynamics.
Financial & Inventory Ownership
  • Translate assortment and merchandising strategies into detailed financial, unit, and SKU/UPC‑level plans.
  • Own annual and quarterly budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes for the E‑commerce channel.
  • Lead demand forecasting, replenishment, and inventory flow strategies to improve availability, inventory turns, and sell‑through.
  • Oversee purchase order planning, inventory flow, and inbound delivery tracking to ensure accurate and timely execution.
In‑Season Optimization
  • Lead in‑season performance analysis, monitoring sales, demand, conversion, sell‑through, and inventory health.
  • Identify risks and opportunities early and recommend reforecast, markdown, promotional, and pricing strategies to maximize margin and inventory efficiency.
  • Analyze profitability at the SKU level, incorporating returns, fulfillment costs, marketing spend, and other contribution drivers.
Insights, Communication & Influence
  • Develop clear, concise performance recaps, forecasts, and actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Present recommendations with confidence, balancing data‑driven rigor with strategic judgment.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to align execution.
Team Development & Process Improvement
  • Mentor and develop junior planners, setting standards for planning rigor, retail math, and analytical thinking.
  • Establish and refine best practices, planning tools, reporting, and workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and planning processes.
Qualifications
  • 5–8+ years of experience in merchandise planning, demand planning, or financial planning within retail or E‑commerce.
  • Demonstrated experience owning planning processes with increasing scope, complexity, and business impact.
  • Strong expertise in retail math, forecasting, inventory management, and financial analysis.
  • Experience in footwear, apparel, or consumer products preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with planning systems and BI tools strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and partner cross‑functionally.
  • Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable making recommendations in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strategic, big‑picture perspective.
