HELP SHAPE DEVELOPMENT, LAND USE, AND PLANNING INITIATIVES IN THE

The Village of Carpentersville is seeking a full-time Senior Planner to join the Community Development Department. The Planner performs professional planning work related to zoning administration, development review, land use planning, and other community development functions such as permit review and processing, as well as assisting the code compliance division. This position works closely with residents, businesses, developers, property owners, Village staff, boards and commissions, and elected officials. The Senior Planner will also assist with development applications, zoning and land use reviews, staff reports, planning studies, comprehensive planning initiatives, and economic development activities. The position provides technical assistance regarding zoning requirements, development procedures, and related Village regulations. The Senior Planner is the liaison to the Village’s Planning and Zoning Commission and may exercise supervision over consultants, interns, support staff, and part-time or temporary employees or volunteers, as assigned.

Qualifications

Special Requirements

Able to communicate clearly in both speech and writing, and build positive working relationships with the development community, officials, Village staff, and the public.Skilled at preparing technical reports, resolutions, and ordinances.Can work independently with little supervision.Able to use the required tools and equipment.Possession of a valid driver’s license.
