Job summary

California Community Foundation is seeking a Senior Officer for Planned Giving & Philanthropic Development in Los Angeles. The role supports the Office of Philanthropy, managing a portfolio of planned gifts and serving as a primary contact for donors and advisors.

You will prepare gift illustrations and donor communications to advance gift commitments. Initial 100 days require in-office work five days a week; after that, two remote days are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, finance, or a related field is required; progress toward or completion of a recognized planned giving credential (CFRE, CAP, CSPG, or ChFC) preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in development, fundraising, or donor relations in a philanthropic or nonprofit setting; experience coordinating donor or advisor relationships.
• Experience maintaining CRM records, donor pipelines, or gift tracking systems.
• Working knowledge of planned giving instruments — bequests, CRTs, CLTs, QCDs, and DAFs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for proposals, stewardship communications, and impact updates.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with professional advisors and donors across Greater Los Angeles.
• Manage a portfolio of planned giving and legacy prospects through gift commitment.
• Maintain accurate records of planned giving activity and advisor relationships in CRM.
• Prepare gift illustrations and donor/advisor-facing materials.
• Draft donor-facing materials, including proposals and stewardship updates.
• Process fund openings and prepare LOIs; coordinate required documents and fund agreements.
• Provide scheduling and logistics support for advisor meetings, roundtables, and events.
• Serve as initial contact for inquiries and escalate complex questions as needed.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Philanthropic Impact Advisors to align materials with brand and strategic framework.
