Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking an experienced Piping/Mechanical QA specialist to support refinery projects in Texas City. This role focuses on QA/QC oversight for piping and mechanical work on capital projects and turnarounds, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and project specs.

You will monitor contractor performance, review ITPs, weld maps, and material certifications, while coordinating with engineers and site leadership to drive safe, timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of piping/mechanical QA/QC experience on refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, API standards, and refinery mechanical codes.
• Experience with welding processes, procedures, and documentation.
• Familiarity with pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, and bolted joint assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and construction drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with contractors and site leadership.
• Refinery or large capital project experience required; refinery background preferred.
• Certifications (CWI, API 570/510, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC inspections and oversight on piping, welding, and mechanical activities for projects.
• Verify work meets codes (ASME B31.3, API) and project specifications.
• Review and approve contractor quality documentation (ITPs, weld maps, WPS/PQRs, certifications).
• Conduct field walkdowns to verify installation, fit-up, and alignment.
• Witness pressure testing, bolt torqueing, and other QA hold points.
• Monitor contractor quality control teams and provide feedback.
• Track and resolve NCRs and punch list items.
• Collaborate with project engineers, construction supervisors, and contractors.
• Ensure turnover documentation packages are complete and accurate.
• Support audits and contribute to QA/QC improvement initiatives.
