Job summary

UPS Industrial Services is seeking an experienced Industrial Quality Control (QC) Technician to support projects in the petrochemical and industrial sectors. This role ensures compliance with quality and safety standards across assigned areas and oversees documentation control, weld and flange tracking, welder certifications, NDE requirements, and adherence to applicable codes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of documentable inspection experience in petrochemical, turnaround/maintenance, or comparable industry.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, WPSs, PQRs, and WPQs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and computer-based documentation systems.
• Strong communication with client engineers, crafts personnel, and supervisory teams.
• Ability to work extended hours, overtime, and travel as required by project needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee quality control activities for assigned project areas, ensuring compliance with client, company, and jurisdictional requirements.
• Manage weld and flange tracking/mapping, verify welder certifications and performance, and oversee NDE requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and archive weld logs, inspection records, and turnover packages.
• Interpret and apply ASME, National Board, and other industry codes to field work.
• Evaluate Mill Test Reports (MTRs) and support material traceability.
• Perform inspections on piping systems, vessels, and equipment to verify assembly, welding quality, and pressure testing.
• Identify and evaluate weld indications such as cracks, lack of fusion, and other defects.
• Ensure all required documentation copies are sent to clients and UPSIS archives in a timely manner.
• Interact with Authorized Inspectors, client representatives, and third-party inspectors.
• Communicate with UPSIS Project Managers, client representatives, and Quality Control Management.
• Mentor other QC Inspectors, promoting knowledge transfer and best practices.
• Support project teams in meeting quality and safety objectives, acting as a key technical resource.
