Job summary

Brunel seeks a Senior Mechanical / Piping Engineer for Sabine Pass, TX to act as the piping systems expert, guiding stress analysis, design reviews, and field engineering across brownfield projects, commissioning and startup. You will oversee contractor deliverables, ensure regulatory compliance, and support safety and integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires 15+ years in piping on large industrial projects, CAESAR II proficiency, and leadership to influence stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 15+ years of piping engineering experience on large industrial projects.
• 5 years in a senior or lead engineering capacity.
• Advanced expertise in piping stress analysis using CAESAR II.
• Experience in LNG, refining, petrochemical, gas processing, or power generation facilities.
• Strong background in field engineering, construction support, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct reporting authority.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority and subject matter expert for piping systems and stress analysis.
• Lead complex engineering evaluations, reviews, and technical decision-making processes.
• Review contractor engineering deliverables, piping layouts, specifications, support designs, and stress analysis calculations.
• Verify compliance with project specifications, engineering codes, and equipment allowable load requirements.
• Support fabrication, installation, testing, system turnover, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Assess field modifications and provide engineering recommendations and technical guidance.
• Support NCRs, specification deviations, fitness-for-service assessments, and pressure boundary integrity concerns.
• Ensure compliance with applicable ASME, API, NFPA and other regulatory and industry requirements.
• Make technically sound and defensible engineering decisions; promote safe execution.

The Senior Mechanical / Piping Engineer serves as the technical subject matter expert for piping systems, providing leadership and support throughout design, construction, commissioning, startup, operational support, and brownfield modification projects. This position provides project-wide oversight for piping engineering activities, including stress analysis, pressure boundary integrity, pipe support systems, and contractor management, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, specifications, regulations, and industry standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• 15+ years of relevant piping engineering experience.
• Extensive knowledge of piping materials, supports, valves, flanges, gaskets, and specialty items.
• Advanced proficiency in piping stress analysis using CAESAR II or similar software.
• Experience supporting large EPC projects through construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
