Responsibilities:

The Y12 Security Complex, simply known as Y12, has three primary security missions that protect our country and our allies around the world. Maintaining the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile, reducing global threats, and fueling the U.S. Navy’s nuclear propulsion program are the key activities at this historic site.

As the Senior Piping Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing support to the Mission Engineering group with full-time piping design engineering support for facility and production area activities in Cat 2 and Cat 3 facilities.

Other responsibilities include:

• Provide design output documentation to support major facility modifications and Project Engineering.
• Develop design output documents such as piping design drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, and calculations.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and plant organizations to produce timely design output.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline accredited by the American Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).
• At least 10 years of experience in ASME B31.3 Process Piping Design.
• Understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance within a nuclear regulated environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interface with clients, production and support organizations, management, and employees.
• Willingness to perform field walk-downs and work in a production environment.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience in NRC or DOE regulated environments is desirable.
• An active DOE Q clearance is preferred, but all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of current clearance status.

Location/Work Arrangement:

• Full-time (40 hours/week)
• Onsite at the Y12 facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
