Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Denver seeks a Senior Piping Designer to lead planning, site evaluations, and 3D CAD-based piping layout across diverse projects. The role includes training junior designers and ensuring conformance with codes, standards, and company procedures.

You will supervise design teams, perform QA/QC of PFDs/P&IDs, and deliver drawings and specifications using CADWorx, Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and MicroStation. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with required experience in drafting/design
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel for design deliverables
• Expert 2D/3D drawing and design software proficiency
• Ability to lead design teams and coordinate with clients and engineers
• Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Lead a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, and refinement of sketches
• Prepare CAD Procedures at project start
• Develop and deliver modeled solutions using 3D integrated systems for Process Piping
• Improve processes and create initiatives to raise project quality
• Prepare drawings, lists, and other deliverables
• Set up and create Isometric drawings in 3D CAD platforms
• Create fabrication drawings for Contractor use
• Assign work to other designers and train them
• Occasional field walk-downs
• Quality review PFDs and P&IDs; CAD PFDs & P&IDs
• Assign process line numbers and review drawings for QA
• Lead model reviews with clients via Navisworks
• Participate in marketing and client development meetings
• Oversee piping design QA/QC processes
• Create/Modify CADWorx and Plant 3D specs
• Create templates for ISO, plans, and drawings
