Job summary

Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company seeking a hands-on Operations Technician in Alameda, CA. You will support R&D and pilot-scale tool operation on the manufacturing floor, bridging R&D, Operations, and Maintenance, and driving safety and continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes process control, equipment startup/shutdown, data entry, and SOP development. A background of 5+ years in relevant roles and strong communication are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in operations technician, lab tech, chemical process operator, or pilot plant tech in hardware, semiconductor, battery, chemical, or advanced manufacturing.
• High school diploma or AS/technical degree in mechanical, chemical, industrial tech, or equivalent military training.
• Proficient with basic hand tools and safety procedures; able to train peers on tools and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Operate pilot-scale reactors: prep inputs, load/unload, start/monitor runs, troubleshoot faults.
• Manage run quality data: collect pre/post samples, label inputs/outputs, store intermediate products.
• Coordinate inventory control: maintain labeling, track materials, PPE, consumables, and parts.
• Coordinate maintenance collaboration to develop SOPs and schedule preventive maintenance.
• Develop and refine SOPs; train operators; drive 5S in development areas.
