Job summary

STAFF ICONS, LLC is seeking a Senior Physicist for Radiation Therapy with relocation assistance offered. The role involves deriving HDR treatment plans, performing daily QA on the HDR unit, and assisting the Chief Physicist with plan sign-offs.

Weekly checks at the Lakeland facility and strict compliance with state licensing and calibrations are required. Responsibilities include reviewing QA on linear accelerators, managing prostate seed implants, and ensuring prompt resolution of machine

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Engineering, physics or mathematics.
• Must be board eligible.
• Experience deriving treatment plans and QA for HDR/IMRT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Derives HDR treatment plans and performs daily QA checks.
• Completes QA testing and fluence reports for IMRT plans.
• Assist Chief Physicist with signing off treatment plans.
• Perform weekly physics chart checks at Lakeland facility.
• Maintain licenses and calibrations as required by the State.
• Assist Chief Physicist in management of prostate seed implant cases.
• Review daily QA checks on linear accelerators and minimize downtime.
• Assist with monthly/annual QA checks on linear accelerators.

Job description

Senior Physicist - Radiation Therapy RELOCATION ASSISTANCE OFFERED! CAN BE SOMEWHAT FLEXIBLE IN THE HOURLY RATE FOR A GREAT CANDIDATE.

Essential Functions

• Derives treatment plans for all HDR patients and performs daily QA checks for HDR unit.
• Completes in a timely manner QA testing and fluence distribution reports for all IMRT plans generated.
• Assist Chief Physicist in checking / signing off on treatment plans created by dosimetrist.
• Perform weekly physics chart checks for Lakeland facility.
• Maintain all department licenses as required by State. Ensure all calibrations of radiation equipment are current and in compliance as required by State.
• Assist Chief Physicist in management and treatment of prostate seed implant cases.
• Reviews daily quality assurance checks on linear accelerators. Monitor treatment machine operations and provide prompt resolution to minimize machine downtime.
• Assist Chief Physicist in performing monthly spot-checks and annual quality assurance checks on linear accelerators.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Extensive mental demands. Highly technical work with a lot of numerical calculations. This person need to be able to stand or sit in a stationary position 50% of the time and move about the inside of the radiation therapy department to communicate with physicians, dosimetrist, and radiation therapists.

Required Education and Experience

Master of Science in Engineering, physics or mathematics. Must be board eligible.
