Job summary

West Virginia University Health System seeks a Physician Advisor to lead utilization management efforts across its hospital network. The role focuses on strategic input, governance participation, and clinical education to optimize patient care and regulatory compliance.

The Physician Advisor will be credentialed across WVUHS facilities, travel as needed, and work within a 40-hour weekly schedule in Morgantown, WV. A MD with ABMS certification and WV licensure eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• MD with ABMS board certification and eligible for WV licensure.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical medicine experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel to system hospitals as needed and serve as a consulting representative.

Responsibilities

• Provide input into strategic planning and resource allocation for Utilization Management.
• Educate physicians on data trends, practice patterns, and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate avoidable delays and utilization issues affecting patient outcomes.
• Represent Utilization Management at hospital committees and related meetings.
