Smart Working is seeking a senior PHP backend engineer to own and evolve a mature, high-volume production platform. You will drive data ingestion for GPS, telematics, and video assets, and help shape real-time alerting and APIs for web and mobile.

You will work on migrating to microservices, collaborate with data and AI initiatives, and contribute to a remote-friendly, growth-focused team.

Formación

• 8+ years of commercial PHP backend development.
• 5+ years of experience with large-scale SaaS or complex production systems.
• 3+ years of PostgreSQL, 5+ years of API design, and 3+ years of high-volume data processing.

Responsabilidades

• Take end-to-end ownership of mature, large-scale production backend systems.
• Own and evolve the PHP backend for GPS, telematics, and DVR video data ingestion and real-time alerts.
• Build and maintain APIs for web platform, mobile app, and integration partners.
• Support decomposition of the existing monolith into microservices and take over systems from a retiring contractor.

• Take end-to-end ownership of mature, large-scale production backend systems handling significant data volumes and device connectivity.
• Contribute to major modernisation initiatives including Yii2-to-Laravel and MariaDB-to-PostgreSQL migrations.
• Collaborate closely with the developer leading computer vision work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and evolve the PHP backend for GPS, telematics, and DVR video data ingestion and real-time alerts.
• Build and maintain APIs for web platform, mobile app, and integration partners.
• Support decomposition of the existing monolith into microservices and take over systems from a retiring contractor.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of commercial PHP backend development at Expert level.
• 5+ years of experience with large-scale SaaS or complex production systems.
• 3+ years of PostgreSQL, 5+ years of API design, and 3+ years of high-volume data processing experience.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with MariaDB/MySQL at scale and front-end experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD using Bitbucket Pipelines and AI or computer vision (YOLO).
• Experience combining event-driven data ingestion with large media files at scale.
