Job summary

PINC Technologies Inc. is seeking a Senior Photonics Engineer in Pasadena to lead characterization and performance validation of integrated photonic circuits from prototype to product-level testing.

The role requires a PhD and hands-on expertise in nonlinear optics, photonic IC testing, and robust test-system development, including Python/LabVIEW software. You will design experiments, automate measurements, and collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Photonics, or related field with hands-on photonics experience.
• Hands-on experience in nonlinear optics.
• Hands-on experience in photonic integrated circuit testing and packaging.
• Proficiency in Python and/or LabVIEW for automation and data processing.
• Proficiency with optical and electronic lab equipment (lasers, OSAs, lock-in amplifiers, ESAs, autocorrelators, high-speed scopes).
• Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks) and basic PCB design.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve chip-level and package-level optical/electro-optical testing workflows.
• Automate measurements and streamline data analysis pipelines for rapid prototyping.
• Create and maintain detailed test plans, procedures, and documentation for prototype to validation.
• Characterize photonic components and analyze data; prepare clear test reports for teams and customers.
• Set up and operate optical and electronic lab equipment (tunables, meters, OSAs, ESAs, autocorrelators, scopes).
• Develop test software for measurement execution, instrument control, data analysis, and parameter extraction (Python/LabVIEW).
• Collaborate to improve mechanical/optical robustness of test setups and packaged devices.
• Use CAD (SolidWorks) to design optomechanical assemblies for test setups and packages.
• Perform basic PCB design to support test systems; work with vendors to procure equipment.
• Stay current with advancements in Photonic IC testing.
