Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Clinical Technician III for Adult Outpatient Phlebotomy in Durham, NC. This on-site role supports phlebotomy and specimen processing, ensuring accurate handling and timely results in the Duke Health Laboratories.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, completion of a phlebotomy training course with clinical rotation, and at least 3 years as Clin Tech II or equivalent, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; for phlebotomy, completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation is recommended.
• Minimal educational or experience requirements may be modified on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the CLIA director if minimal requirements are met.
• At least 3 years experience as a Clin Tech II preferred plus achieve required competency level for specified job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of multi-skilled support functions including specimen collection, receipt and preparation of specimens for analysis; assist with workflow coordination in area.
• Perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures.
• Prepare and initiate tests and procedures including phlebotomy, urinalysis, and specimen management.
• Communicate professionally with patients, family and medical personnel for problem resolution.
• Maintain inventory and stock supplies; assist with workflow coordination.
• Utilize hospital information systems and systems for data entry and record keeping.
