Qualifications

• BS/BA degree preferred or higher.
• High School Diploma required.
• Phlebotomy Certificate required by state (if required).
• Minimum 5 years phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to adhere to hospital policies, federal/state requirements, and HIPAA standards.
• Office setting with scrubs required.
• Position requires tracking of each draw.

Responsibilities

• Identify best method for retrieving blood and prepare specimens for testing.
• Verify test requisitions and resolve discrepancies.
• Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture and finger sticks.
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic technique and isolation procedures.
• Track collected specimens and maintain daily tallies.
• Follow quality-control procedures and report needed changes.
• Handle PHI and complete HIPAA/PHI compliance within 30 days.
• Manage and print patient reports; assist with billing questions.
