Job summary

FMOL Health in Lafayette, LA seeks a Phlebotomist 2 to collect blood samples, verify records, and prepare specimens for lab analysis. You will follow strict infection control protocols and labeling procedures, while independently supporting patient care outside the main lab.

Role requires mentoring of students, collaboration with ER/ICU teams, and a commitment to safety and timeliness in specimen handling.

Qualifications

1+ year phlebotomy experience.
High School diploma or equivalent and formal phlebotomy training.
National Certification in phlebotomy or state license in phlebotomy, MA, or MLA.

Responsibilities

Properly labels the blood tubes immediately after collection.
Follows all infection control procedures and proper protocol for sterile collection of blood samples.
Demonstrates protocol for blood draw above IV sites and maintains sample integrity.
Identifies patients correctly using two identifiers and follows lab procedures.
Mentors phlebotomy students and entry-level staff in technique and safety devices.
Assists ER/ICU and other areas with difficult collections when requested; promotes teamwork.
Maintains a professional appearance and punctuality; communicates effectively with patients and staff.
