Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Medical Assistant with phlebotomy skills to gather clinical data, collect blood samples, and perform CLIA-waived tests in a busy office. The role includes data entry in eClinicalWorks and CareWare, ensuring HIPAA compliance and safe handling of specimens.

Qualified candidates will hold a CCMA, CPT or eligibility, with 11–20 years in a medical setting preferred. Expect responsibilities across immunizations, patient prep, and coordination with providers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• CCMA from a Nationally Accredited Program.
• CPT certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• 11-20 years’ experience in a medical environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather clinical data for providers and document required information.
• Obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques.
• Run routine CLIA-waived in-office tests and document QC.
• Process and route specimens to the laboratory with proper handling.
• Administer medications, immunizations and injections as ordered.
• Assist with office visits, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Review daily schedule with providers for preventive care and vaccinations.
• Report significant patient conditions or reactions to the provider or nurse manager.
• Ensure safe handling of blood products and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Maintain infection control and sterile environment, including daily cleanings.
• Provide coverage for late clinics as scheduled.
• Assist in coding review in the EMR to optimize billing.
• Notify patients of lab results and appointment schedules.
• Explain ordered procedures or treatments to patients as directed.
• Maintain CPR certification and CEUs.
