Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Senior Philanthropy Officer to lead oncology major gifts within the IU Health Foundation, working with oncologists, service lines, and hospital leadership to secure five-figure gifts and donor upgrades.

You will manage a robust donor portfolio, cultivate relationships with patients, caregivers, and donors, and mentor junior staff while aligning fundraising strategy with the Simon Cancer Center and Schwarz Cancer Center priorities in a hybrid Indianapolis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Requires working knowledge of fundraising software Raiser's Edge and Salesforce.
• Requires proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience with a matrix organization and complex work environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a gritty, polished, and donor obsessed major gift fundraiser to own the oncology fundraising space at IU Health Foundation.

Day to day, this person works shoulder to shoulder with oncology physicians and service line leaders, building relationships with patients, donors, and caregivers who are the heartbeat of this work.

Shift: Full time, Monday – Friday, hybrid

Location: Indianapolis, IN

The Scope

This role leads oncology focused major gift fundraising for IU Health Foundation, including:

• Managing a robust pipeline of mid-to-major gift donors with a focus on oncology service lines and institutes
• Building deep, sustained relationships with patients, donors, caregivers, and oncology clinical and operational leaders
• Owning the philanthropic space for the Simon Cancer Center and Schwarz Cancer Center in Carmel
• Leading sophisticated cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies with consistent five figure solicitations and donor upgrades
• Representing the Foundation at events, donor engagements, and public speaking opportunities alongside physicians and organizational leaders
• Partnering with clinical leaders and service line teams to align fundraising with oncology priorities and institutional goals
• Leveraging CRM tools and analytical insights to inform portfolio strategy, donor engagement planning, and campaign messaging
• Providing mentorship to junior development officers
• Contributing to integrated fundraising campaigns and supporting major philanthropic priorities across IU Health

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for this position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Requires working knowledge of fundraising software (i.e. Raiser's Edge, Salesforce).
• Requires proficiency in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience with a matrix organization and complex work environment is preferred.
