Job summary

Third Way, based in Washington, DC, seeks a Senior Philanthropy Advisor to partner with senior leadership in growing a donor portfolio for the Climate & Energy program. The role is hybrid, with in-office days in Washington, DC, and offers a competitive salary range.

You will manage major gifts, identify prospects, craft compelling proposals and reports, and coordinate donor communications. A graduate degree or relevant experience is required, with 5–7 years in fundraising or related fields.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of fundraising, donor portfolio management, or related experience.
• Ability to write clearly on complex topics for non-experts.
• Experience coordinating with program and senior leadership on funding opportunities.
• Strong donor prospect research and cultivation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a dynamic major gifts donor portfolio and deepen relationships.
• Identify new funding prospects and cultivate donor interests.
• Draft proposals, grant applications, and donor reports.
• Create donor-facing materials and maintain consistent messaging.
• Plan and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events.
• Supervise development interns and support team culture.
