Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to oversee training, onboarding, and career development for the pharmacy technician team. You will lead competency validation, reinforce best practices, and drive professional growth across core and advanced workflows.

The role requires 3+ years in a hospital pharmacy setting, an active RPhT/Licensed Tech with CPhT or PTCB certification, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and collaboration with leadership and IT teams.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or equivalent required; Bachelor's preferred.
• 3+ years of practice in an integrated health care system with three or more hospitals.
• 3+ years of contemporary hospital pharmacy experience.
• Registered or Licensed Pharmacy Technician required; CPhT or PTCB certification preferred.
• Ability to lead training and supervise technicians.

Responsibilities

• Oversees training programs and mentors pharmacy technicians and supports onboarding, competency validation, and peer development.
• Identifies training needs and reinforces best practices.
• Supports technician career development and advances pharmacy technician practice.
• Leads professionalism, accountability, and teamwork in the pharmacy.
• Oversees quality improvement, education, and practice advancement projects.
• Represents pharmacy in committees and enterprise initiatives.
• Champions innovation and continuous professional growth.
• Participates in research or innovation efforts.
• Executes expert-level pharmacy technician duties across core and advanced workflows and systems.
• Demonstrates leadership in medication preparation, sterile and hazardous compounding, inventory and controlled substances management, and regulatory compliance.
• Serves as subject matter expert in advanced pharmacy services and operational strategy.
• Maintains proficiency in Tech IV functions and provides coverage across core/advanced areas.
• Coordinates daily workflow and assigns responsibilities.
• Acts as shift operations point person and coordinates technician team.
• Monitors task completion, ensuring compliance with policies and safety standards.
• Develops protocols to ensure accuracy, safety, and quality.
• Provides real-time feedback and guidance to team members.
• Coordinates shift handoffs and ensures schedule adherence.
• Ensures continuity of operations across shifts and areas.
• Liaises between technicians and leadership.
• Communicates operational needs and supports department goals.
• Serves as safety advocate for medication-use process improvements and compliance.
• Monitors system performance to detect and mitigate issues.
• Collaborates with IT, compliance, and clinical teams on cross-functional initiatives.
• Enlists Pharmacy Technician Specialists as needed.
• Participates in quality audits and performance monitoring.
• Identifies opportunities for efficiency and service enhancement.
• Directs pharmacy compliance efforts and accreditation readiness.
• Other duties as assigned.
