Job summary

UPMC Harrisburg is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Senior for night shift (8 nights on, 6 off), 10-hour days from 8:00pm - 6:00am, to assist in preparing and delivering medications in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork across pharmacy operations.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, Pharmacy Technician Certification, and at least three years of experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
• Three years of previous pharmacy technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders with correct labeling, counting and stocking; initial and date products.
• Prepare sterile products and cytotoxic/hazardous drugs using aseptic technique.
• Distribute medications via cassettes and carts; handle controlled substances per policy.
• Procure and maintain investigational drug supplies and distribution.
• Train other pharmacy technicians in multiple areas of the department.
• Maintain accurate controlled substance records and compliance with regulations.
• Provide information to hospital staff, patients, and visitors; refer drug information questions to pharmacists.
• Maintain clean, organized, and stocked work environment; manage inventory levels daily.
• Operate and maintain pharmacy computer systems and documentation.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Graduated/Completed an accredited pharmacy technician program

Three years of pharmacy technician experience
