Job summary

MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician for the Inpatient Pharmacy. The role supports unit dose dispensing, IV admixture, sterile compounding, and controlled substances handling in a high-accuracy environment.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma, Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration, 2 years in inpatient pharmacy with 1 year sterile compounding. Evening shift, 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center, or retail setting.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
• Preferred: IV Sterile Products certification and Pharmacy employee training.

Responsibilities

Job description

OurInpatient Pharmacy team delivers comprehensive and high-quality medication distribution services across the hospital. We manage all aspects of inpatient drug delivery - including unit dose dispensing, IV admixture preparation, and specialized systems for controlled substances and investigational drugs. We leverage advanced automation and robotic dispensing technology to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety in every step of the process.

Theideal candidate will possess a High School Diploma and hold a current Pharmacy Technician Registration. In addition, candidates should have at least two (2) years of experience in an Inpatient pharmacy setting, including a minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience with sterile compounding.

The working hours for this position will be a Evening shift - 3:00p - 11:30p - 40 hr. work week

3.Inventory Management

• Monitor area inventory and supplies, and notify appropriate personnel when shortages or outages are noted

Education

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

License/Certification

Required: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Preferred: Current Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Current Intravenous Medication Certification (IV-Sterile Products) approved by the Accreditation Counsel for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Experience

Required: Two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center, or retail pharmacy.

Preferred: Experience in hazardous sterile compounding, high risk sterile compounding, nonsterile compounding, inventory management, and Pharmacy employee training. Experience in OR, critical care, pediatrics, ordering/receiving medications, and controlled substances.
