Job summary

Providence Covenant Medical Center is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III to support filling and dispensing unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and departments, ensuring accuracy and prompt service.

You will handle oral and IV medications, triage orders, and maintain the automated dispensing system, with advanced knowledge in at least two specialty areas of pharmacy. Texas licensure required.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required; must obtain Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or license upon hire.
• Minimum of 2 years (4160+ clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system with PTCB certification, OR 3 years (6240+ hours) hospital pharmacy if no PTCB.
• Preferred coursework/training in Pharmacy Technician program and advanced PTCB certificates.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to nursing units and ancillary departments.
• Fill/dispense oral and IV medications; triage patient orders.
• Maintain the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS) and ensure prompt, accurate service.

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). Has advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty areas in the pharmacy.

Required Qualifications:

• H.S. Diploma or GED
• Upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or
• Upon hire: Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License
• Minimum of 2 years (> 4160 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and PTCB certification - OR - 3 years (> 6240 hours) hospital pharmacy if technician does not have PTCB certification
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program
• Advanced PTCB certificate (e.g., compounded sterile products, advanced certified pharmacy technician, medication history certificate, controlled substances)
• Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state
