Job summary

Walgreens is seeking an experienced procurement leader to manage strategic purchasing for pharmaceuticals, driving favorable pricing and uninterrupted supply. You will oversee P&L for complex categories, guide cross-functional teams, and negotiate with global vendors to optimize assortment and profitability.

The role requires 6+ years in relevant pharma purchasing, strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, and the ability to translate insights into actionable merchandising decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years’ experience related to dispensing, handling, researching, producing, purchasing, and/or contracting FDA approved drug products.
• At least 4 years’ experience working with cross-functional teams and/or managing staff.
• Experience with P&L concepts, including revenue, COGS, gross margin, and operating expenses.

Responsibilities

• Drives strategic purchasing process within the division and recommends innovative purchasing strategies.
• Oversees budgets, long-range objectives, performance goals and metrics.
• Leads collaboration with vendors and negotiates purchasing strategies and programs.
• Analyzes market data and IMS information to guide category direction and share changes.
• Translates consumer insights into assortment merchandising decisions to drive returns.
• Ensures pharmaceutical products are available and properly distributed with sufficient inventory.
• Oversees contract negotiations and maintains vendor relationships.
