Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to guide daily operations of the Pharmacy Department, organize workflow and staff schedules, and participate in Performance Improvement activities to ensure efficient and safe pharmaceutical services.

The pharmacist will perform all duties of a licensed Pharmacist, dispense drugs for inpatient and outpatient prescriptions, manage inventory, and collaborate with clinical teams across Eastern Region sites to support high-quality patient

Qualifications

  • Licensed pharmacist in New York State is required.
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is required.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates daily operations of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Coordinates workflow to ensure safe dispensing and timely service.
  • Prepares, assesses, and distributes work schedules.
  • Reports schedule discrepancies to management.
  • Selects, prepares, and dispenses drugs for inpatient and outpatient prescriptions.
  • Maintains inventory and records of controlled substances.
  • Manufactures and labels sterile compounds as needed.
  • Develops and implements programs to meet departmental goals.
  • Performs pre-admission/discharge medication interviews.
  • Reviews patient charts to maintain accurate medication histories.
  • Ensures drugs are reordered per policy.
  • Performs related duties as required under ADA.

Job Responsibility
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates daily operations of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Coordinates workflow to facilitate efficient and timely delivery of pharmaceutical services and maintain safe dispensing practices.
  • Prepares, assesses and distributes work schedule.
  • Reports schedule discrepancies to management.
  • Selects, prepares, and dispenses drug products to fill inpatient and outpatient prescriptions.
  • Maintains inventory and records of investigational drugs, control substances and methadone.
  • Manufactures, prepares, and labels compounds, solutions, and other sterile products.
  • Participates in development and implementation of new programs to meet departmental goals and improve services.
  • Conducts pre-admission/discharge patient medication interviews, as required.
  • Reviews patient charts and nursing medications charting documents to maintain accurate patient profile.
  • Ensures drugs are reordered as per hospital policy and procedure.

Job Qualification
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy required.
  • Current License to practice as a Pharmacist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.
Rotates to other Eastern Region sites, based on site needs
