Responsibilities

• Operates on the Retail floor, including teller line during lunches or high volume.
• Opens deposit accounts and maintains them.

• Cross-sell and refer bank services with high quality referrals.
• Builds relationships via outside calling and follow-ups with customers.
• Serves customers per VCNB policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains portfolio with significant platform time.
• Assists in resolving customer or staff issues; backups in leadership.
• Trains other Personal Bankers or acts as content expert in Teller/Deposits/Consumer Lending/Sales.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in duties.

Job description

To fully engage in office activities and decision making by being an active participant in the daily branch function through opening deposit account and originating consumer loan requests, including home equity loans. Personal Bankers are expected to recognize that in order to provide Service Excellence a customer’s experience should always be consistent whether they are online, using a mobile device, speaking to us over the phone or visiting us in person. In order to maintain this all Personal Bankers must consistently follow and model VCNB Service Standards.

Senior Personal Banker is the most experienced PB role, and the expectation is that they will maintain a high level of knowledge and performance in all skills associated with Front Line, Deposit Accounts and Consumer Lending. Additionally, they will be willing to train others, serve as content experts, assist in solving customer or staff issues within a branch, and could take on backup leadership roles as needed. A continued display of outstanding communication skills and unparalleled customer service is expected.

• Operates effectively on the Retail floor, including the teller line as needed during lunches, staff shortages, or high volume traffic.
• Opens all types of deposit accounts and handles account maintenance as required.
• Granting and servicing of secured and unsecured loans with emphasis on consumer customers, with the ability to effectively meet with applicants and underwrite the credit request.
• Opens home equity loans.
• Promotes the bank’s services and products and is responsible for cross selling and making high quality referrals when appropriate.
• Develop customer relationships through extensive outside calling efforts and phone calls to existing and potential customers.
• Serves existing customers in accordance with VCNB policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
• Has built or established portfolio that warrants more than 50% of time on platform side.
• Assists in problem solving customer or staff issues within a branch and takes on backup leadership roles as needed.
• Has ability to train other Personal Bankers or act as a content expert in the areas of Teller, Deposit Accounts, Consumer Lending and Sales.
• Has at least 5 years of experience in banking or in similar cash handling role.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion within job duties.
