Job summary

Yum! Brands is seeking a performance engineering specialist to lead performance test design and execution.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Quality Engineering, Product, and SRE to identify risks and drive improvements across microservices-based architectures using k6 and Datadog. You will develop tests, analyze results, and refine frameworks, while mentoring POD teams and building monitoring dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/CIS/engineering.
• 5+ years in performance engineering.
• 3+ years with k6 and Datadog or similar platforms.
• Advanced coding in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• 3+ years with microservices (REST/GraphQL).
• Extensive AWS and Kubernetes experience.
• Experience with profile/baseline, load, stress, soak and spike testing.
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering, Quality Engineering, Product, and SRE to identify performance risks and troubleshoot issues.
• Design, develop, and execute performance test strategies, scenarios, and workloads.
• Analyze performance test results, metrics, logs, traces, and infrastructure data to identify bottlenecks.
• Maintain and enhance performance testing frameworks, tooling, and automation.
• Evaluate system scalability, reliability, and capacity under varying workloads.
• Communicate performance findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Contribute to performance engineering practices and capacity planning.
• Guide POD teams through mentoring and documentation.
• Develop and optimize performance test assets including scripts, data, and dashboards.
