Job summary

ENGIE North America is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems and solar assets. You will lead analytics, build tools, and drive improvements in fleet performance, availability, and reliability across the U.S.

You will mentor engineers and coordinate with operations, asset management, OEMs, and partners. The role requires 5+ years in performance analytics for utility-scale assets, strong data skills, and the ability to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in performance engineering or analytics for utility-scale assets.
• Experience with data visualization tools and analytics platforms as listed above.
• Proficiency with programming and data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, MATLAB.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve tools that monitor performance, availability, and reliability of the operating fleet.
• Lead advanced analytics to identify failure modes, diagnose underperformance, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Conduct detailed performance investigations for BESS and solar equipment and identify root causes.
• Support field operations with testing, data collection, and performance validation for BESS and solar assets.
• Enhance KPI reporting, dashboards, and asset performance visibility with scalable methods and algorithms.
• Provide analytical support for budgeting, spare parts planning, and outage reviews.
• Establish standards for performance analytics and reporting across BESS and solar assets.
• Mentor engineers and communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.
