Job summary

Pickle Robot Company is seeking a Senior Perception Software Engineer to advance warehouse automation. You will focus on 3D LiDAR and multi-sensor data to improve state estimation, mapping, and localization for robots at unloading docks.

The role requires production-grade software development in Python and C++, with hands-on experience in ROS/ROS2, OpenCV, and Open3D. You will work from our HQ in Charlestown, MA, three days a week and integrate perception pipelines into the core stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of robotics software engineering (or MS with 3+ years).
• Strong Python and C++ production skills.
• Background in linear algebra, geometry, probabilistic robotics.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2, OpenCV, Open3D, Eigen, Git.
• Experience with 3D LiDARs, IMUs, cameras.

Responsibilities

• Drive localization and state estimation accuracy for robot base and scene components.
• Develop advanced obstacle mapping for collision avoidance in messy environments.
• Implement and optimize point cloud processing for real-time edge compute.
• Architect robust software stack interfacing ML model outputs with production codebase.
• Improve and automate multi-sensor calibration for high-fidelity alignment across sensors.
