Motional is hiring for a Perception engineer on the team responsible for advancing self-driving perception technologies. You will design and scale large-scale, multi-modal models and sensor simulations to improve robustness in real-world driving.

The role centers on bringing cutting-edge perception research into production vehicles. You will mentor engineers, collaborate across ML and software teams, and focus on efficient onboard inference and real-time processing for the fleet.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
• Masters or PhD in ML, CS, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of common ML and DL algorithms.
• Experience designing, training, and analyzing neural networks for perception-related tasks.
• Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Fluency in Python and scientific computing libraries.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and version control.

Responsabilités

• Lead the architecture and development of advanced perception systems for large-scale multi-modal models.
• Architect and scale synthetic data generation and sensor simulation for edge cases and evaluation.
• Drive knowledge transfer from teacher models to onboard perception models via distillation and post-training techniques.
• Productionize and deploy solutions onto autonomous vehicle fleets.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers on the team.
