Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for Perception in the EmbodiedAI group. You will own the end-to-end ML perception pipeline, from data curation and research to optimization and real-time deployment on vehicle compute platforms.

The role focuses on accurate scene understanding across complex environments, with emphasis on safety-critical performance. You will work on 3D object detection, real-time map understanding, and multi-modal sensor fusion while collaborating

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience with a focus on Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and Perception in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience with modern deep learning frameworks for training, experimentation, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Model Lifecycle: design, training, validation, and deployment of deep learning models for perception tasks.
• 3D Object Detection and Tracking (vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists).
• Real-time map detection of the drivable world (lanes, road boundaries, traffic signs).
• Multi-Modal Sensor Fusion (Camera, LiDAR, Radar).
• Production Pipeline: ML training infrastructure, data loading, multi-stage training and evaluation.
• Performance Optimization: improve model performance through data iterations and architecture updates.
• Model Debugging: analyze and resolve performance degradations, including long-tail scenarios.
• System Integration: collaborate with Safety, Systems, and other teams to integrate outputs.
