Job summary

Shield AI, a defense-tech company, seeks an engineer to turn multimodal vision advances into real hardware capabilities for autonomous aircraft and vehicles. You will work with researchers to evaluate approaches, build prototypes, and move successful ideas into the Hivemind product, addressing sensor, software, and compute challenges for edge robotics.

You’ll contribute Python and C/C++ code, collaborating with experienced product engineers, and help deploy tested capabilities across teams while

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent research + hands-on engineering experience.
• Strong Python skills with PyTorch or ML framework.
• Experience building substantial research software and production-quality C/C++ code.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate emerging models against sensor data and autonomy needs.
• Build prototypes and experiments to reveal strengths and limitations.
• Combine learned and classical approaches for perception tasks.
• Optimize and integrate capabilities for edge deployment with Python/C++.
• Deliver tested, documented capabilities and enable adoption by other teams.
