Qualifications

• 5+ years in robotics perception and sensor fusion with senior/lead experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, CS, EE or related field
• Proficiency in C++, Python and ROS 1/2
• Hands-on with industrial 3D cameras, LiDAR and IMUs with synchronized sensor data
• Strong calibration knowledge including hand-eye and LiDAR-camera extrinsics
• Experience with deep learning methods (YOLO, Mask R-CNN) and CV techniques
• Proficiency with OpenCV, PCL and Open3D for real-time processing

A fast-growing robotics company is developing autonomous robotic systems for demanding, real-world industrial environments. Its focus is on deploying reliable, high-performance solutions that address complex operational challenges beyond proof-of-concept demonstrations.

The company is seeking an experienced Senior Robotics Engineer specialising in perception and sensor fusion to advance its autonomous capabilities from prototype through to production deployment.

Job Responsibilities

Perception & Computer Vision

• Detect and estimate 6-DoF poses and 3D dimensions of rigid objects under occlusion and challenging lighting conditions.

Sensor Fusion & Calibration

• Integrate and synchronise multi-modal sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, IMUs and other ranging sensors.
• Develop and implement intrinsic and extrinsic calibration techniques, including hand-eye calibration and LiDAR-camera alignment.

Localisation & Environment Awareness

• Implement lightweight localisation methods, such as point-cloud registration, marker-based localisation and feature-map alignment, within constrained or repetitive environments.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in robotics perception and sensor fusion, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Technical Expertise

• Proficiency in modern C++, Python and ROS 1 or ROS 2.
• Hands-on experience with industrial 3D cameras, LiDAR, IMUs and synchronised multi-sensor data acquisition.
• Strong understanding of multi-sensor calibration techniques, including hand-eye calibration and LiDAR-camera extrinsics.
• Experience with both deep-learning-based detection methods, such as YOLO and Mask R-CNN, and classical computer vision techniques, including feature matching, PnP and RANSAC.
• Proficiency with OpenCV, PCL and Open3D for real-time image and point-cloud processing.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision‑making.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to lightweight SLAM or marker-based mapping approaches, including AprilTags and ArUco.
• Experience with cloud-based monitoring and logging platforms for robotics systems.
