Job summary

Arizona State University’s Enterprise Technology division seeks an Applications Developer 3 to design, develop, test, implement, and maintain PeopleSoft Campus Solutions applications and enhancements. You will translate business needs into scalable technical solutions in partnership with stakeholders.

Strong expertise in PeopleTools, APIs, SQL, and web services, plus experience with REST/SOAP and modern UI (Fluid) is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
  • Experience developing and supporting PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules (Recruiting/Admissions preferred).
  • Proficiency in developing, modifying, and troubleshooting Application Engine programs and PeopleCode.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain PeopleSoft Campus Solutions applications and enhancements.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions with stakeholders.
  • Develop APIs and web services using PeopleSoft Integration Broker, REST, SOAP and other PeopleTools technologies.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and external applications.
  • Implement security controls for PeopleSoft applications, APIs, and access to sensitive student data.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Mentor teammates and promote best practices in development.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing and supporting one or more PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules, with preference for experience in Recruiting and Admissions.
  • Proficiency in developing, modifying, and troubleshooting Application Engine programs, Application Packages, and PeopleCode.
  • Strong understanding of PeopleTools, APIs and objects, including Arrays, Rowsets, Rows, Records, SQL, Messages, Application Packages, JSON, and XMLDoc.
  • Strong experience with relational databases and SQL, including the ability to develop and troubleshoot complex queries, joins, and data manipulation statements.
  • Experience developing REST and SOAP web services and working with JSON and XML-based integrations.
  • Knowledge of or experience developing modern PeopleSoft applications using the Fluid User Interface.
  • Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.

Essential Duties
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain PeopleSoft Campus Solutions applications and enhancements.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions in partnership with functional teams and business stakeholders.
  • Design and develop APIs and web services using PeopleSoft Integration Broker, REST, SOAP, Component Interfaces, and other PeopleTools technologies.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and external, third‑party, and institutional applications.
  • Implement appropriate security controls for PeopleSoft applications, APIs, integrations, and access to sensitive student data.
  • Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and performance testing to ensure application quality and reliability.
  • Optimize application and integration performance and identify opportunities to modernize legacy customizations and integrations.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, documentation, and guidance on PeopleSoft development standards and best practices.
  • Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit’s efficiency and overall performance.
  • Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
  • Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.
Working Environment

Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate‑controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces. This role involves regular use of a computer (desktop and/or laptop), including a keyboard and mouse. Effective communication and proficiency with a variety of technologies are essential for collaboration with the broader team. Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Regular responsibilities may require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
