Job summary

Assort Health is seeking a Senior People Partner (HRBP) for our Tech organization to advise CTOs and engineering leaders on people strategy as we scale from hundreds to thousands of engineers.

You will partner with our CTO, engineering and product leaders, and cross-functional teams to shape org design, leadership development, performance management, and retention strategies while leveraging AI-native approaches to streamline processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in People Partner or HR Business Partner (HRBP) roles supporting engineering and product, including leadership experience.
  • Hypergrowth experience at a technology company: you have been in the seat while an engineering org scaled, ideally as the company grew from roughly 250 to 1,000+ employees, and you can describe what broke along the way and what you did about it.
  • Credibility with technical leaders: you understand how engineering teams work, including leveling, IC versus manager paths, and how technical work is evaluated, and you can give direct, well-reasoned advice that engineers respect.
  • Performance and talent judgment: you have built or run engineering career ladders, calibrations, and promotion processes, and you have made hard calls with incomplete information.
  • Technical compensation knowledge: you know how equity-heavy offers work and how to compete for engineering talent in a hot market.
  • Employee relations depth: you have run investigations and resolved complex situations, and you know when to bring in Legal or outside counsel.
  • AI fluency and ownership: you will leverage AI tools to optimize people operations and decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with technical leaders on org design and planning: design team structures, set spans of control, plan headcount, navigate reorgs and leadership changes.
  • Own leveling, performance, and promotion for R&D: calibrations, 9-box reviews, promotion decisions, and compensation recommendations for engineers and product managers.
  • Compete for top technical talent: collaborate on engineering hiring strategy, offer competitiveness, and equity philosophy.
  • Make People Partnering AI-native: use AI to prepare for leader conversations, analyze org health data, draft documentation, and reduce manual work.
  • Own employee relations: handle investigations, complaints, sensitive situations with fairness, and involve Legal when needed.
  • Coach engineering and product managers: advise on feedback, difficult conversations, and team dynamics; feed learnings to People Operations.
  • Drive retention and org health: track sentiment, attrition, burnout, run stay conversations with high performers, provide data-backed recommendations.

Job description

Building Healthcare That Remembers

Every time you call a doctor's office, the system forgets you the moment you hang up. You wait on hold, explain everything from scratch, get bounced between lines, and hope someone follows up. Everyone has felt this. No one should have to.

At Assort Health, we're building one continuous conversation for every patient. An AI agent that knows who you are, remembers how you like to be reached, and carries that context from your first symptom to your full recovery. What began as the first voice AI agent to schedule a specialty appointment has become the largest proprietary specialty dataset in healthcare: 285 million patient interactions, 62,000 care protocols, 1.6 million decision pathways.

We went from 15 people in 2025 and will cross 250 by the end of 2026. Revenue is up 20x in 15 months and we've raised $222 million, including a recent $120 million Series C at a $1.2 billion valuation from investors including Menlo Ventures and Lightspeed. We've also been named to the Forbes Cloud 100 and the 2026 Enterprise Tech 30 as the only healthcare AI company on the list!

Healthcare spends $1.1 trillion a year on administration instead of care. If you want to help change that,

About the Role

As a Senior People Partner (HRBP) for Tech, you will be the trusted advisor to our technical leaders on everything that involves people: how teams are organized, how engineers grow, how performance is managed, and how we keep our best builders as we scale. You will partner directly with our CTO, engineering and product leaders, and managers across our R&D organization, and you will help set the standard for how People Partners work at Assort. You will report to the SVP of People and work closely with People Operations and Recruiting. This is a builder's seat, helping us grow from ~300 to over 1,000 people in the coming years. You have seen what an engineering organization looks like at each stage of that climb, and you know what has to change before it breaks. You will build this function ahead of the curve.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with technical leaders on org design and planning: Work with engineering and product leaders to design team structures, set spans of control, plan headcount, and navigate reorgs, new manager transitions, and leadership changes. Bring a clear point of view on how the R&D org should evolve at the next stage.
  • Own leveling, performance, and promotion for R&D: Own the content and judgment behind calibrations, 9-box reviews, promotion decisions, and compensation recommendations for engineers and product managers. Build and maintain career ladders across IC and management tracks.
  • Compete for top technical talent: Partner with Recruiting and leaders on engineering hiring strategy, offer competitiveness, and equity philosophy, knowing we compete with frontier AI labs and top startups for the same people.
  • Make People Partnering AI-native: Use AI to prepare for leader conversations, analyze org health data, draft documentation, and remove manual work, and set the standard for how the People team uses these tools.
  • Own employee relations: Handle investigations, complaints, and sensitive situations with fairness, discretion, and sound judgment, and partner with Legal when the stakes call for it. Spot patterns early and fix root causes, not just individual cases.
  • Coach engineering and product managers: Advise first-time and senior managers on feedback, difficult conversations, team dynamics, and underperformance, and feed what you learn back to People Operations so programs address real needs.
  • Drive retention and org health: Track sentiment, attrition, and burnout signals across technical teams, run stay conversations with high performers, and bring leadership clear, data-backed recommendations.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years in People Partner or HR Business Partner (HRBP) roles supporting engineering and product, including leadership experience: You have advised CTOs and VPs of Engineering and led or mentored other partners.
  • AI fluency and ownership
