Job summary

PEI Group in New York is seeking a Senior Private Equity Reporter to cover the fast-paced world of private equity for PEI Private Equity in the US. The role emphasizes original reporting, breaking news, and longer-form features, with leadership on select projects and potential editing responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in business or financial reporting, a proven track record of scoops, and strong industry contacts in private equity and deal advisory.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in business or financial reporting required.
• Proven track record of delivering scoops and breaking news.
• Authoritative voice in the private equity/M&A market and/or specific industry sectors within private equity/M&A.
• Familiarity with social media platforms, such as LinkedIn.
• Computer proficiency, such as using Microsoft Office Suite, online search tools, databases, WordPress, particularly for interrogating data via Excel.

Responsibilities

• Produce at least three articles each week consistent with our mission of delivering exclusive news and features.
• Break news and deliver scoops frequently.
• Author the e-newsletter on a regular basis, beginning with once per week and growing over time.
• Conduct interviews and develop relationships with private equity partners, investment bankers and readers.
• Incorporate internal and external data into stories as context.
• Collaborate with PEI’s Private Equity group to plan and execute content.
• Maintain a robust contact book of private equity practitioners and deal advisors.
• Attend industry events and represent the publication as an ambassador.
• Assist with sourcing PEI data, optimizing for SEO/AEO, and selecting images.
• Share expertise with less experienced reporters.
• Use social media to amplify content (LinkedIn).
• Use AI tools in line with company policy.
• Potential involvement in podcasts/videos.
• Publish sensitive information with journalistic ethics and disclosure of conflicts.
• Produce tables and infographics.
