Job summary

Benchmark Electronics in Huntsville, AL is seeking a PCB assembler to assemble electronic components, subassemblies, and systems following detailed instructions. You will read prints, follow procedures, and work with other assemblers to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in PCB/optics assembly, mentoring experience, and ability to handle hand tools and chemicals. This full-time roles offers a hands-on, collaborative environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
Ability to use hand tools and associated devices to manufacture PCBs and other electronic assemblies.
Ability to learn and master all tasks associated with PCB assembly that are assigned.
Ability to identify electronic components.
Ability to identify solder non-conformance and correct them.
Effective communication, both verbal and written.
Ability to respond to written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work with and around chemicals used in the PCB manufacturing process.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Ability to obtain and renew certifications on assigned equipment and willingness to cross-train in other areas.
Participate in a continuous improvement activity.

Responsibilities

Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacturing of PCBs.
Identifies by sight workmanship and material defects in touch-up and assembly areas and may be able to suggest basic changes to the work instructions to improve operations in these areas.
Performs tasks with a high degree of care and attention to details while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Assembles electronic components, assemblies, and modules by working from samples, visual aids, wiring lists and process sheets.
Maintains accurate material control within the work area.
Performs inspection of own work in immediate working unit.
Participates in providing timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering, as appropriate.
Follows and maintains accurate process documentation.
Assemble PCBs of highest degree of dexterity and skill/knowledge.
May perform inspection of other employee's work.
Use most sophisticated tooling to perform operations.
Recommend process improvements to management and engineering.
Serve as mentor and may be back-up to Team Leader or Supervisor.
