OpenGov powers government transformation and operates a robust payroll function within the Accounting team. The Senior Manager, Payroll owns US payroll end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance across jurisdictions where OpenGov employs people.

This leader sets long-term direction, documents processes, strengthens controls, and improves systems and automation to scale with the business while possibly expanding to equity administration.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of US payroll experience, including 3+ years managing payroll staff.
• Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and ADP SmartCompliance.
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets with complex formulas and large datasets.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration, and discretion with confidential information.
• Comfortable using AI-native tools to accelerate workflows and improve efficiency.
• Ability to work in office in San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, or Boston.

Aufgaben

• Own end-to-end payroll processing for the United States, ensuring every payroll is accurate, complete, timely, and compliant with federal, state, and local requirements.
• Manage payroll tax compliance across all jurisdictions, including resolving compliance issues, processing adjustments and audits with authorities.
• Partner with HR on 401(k), HSA, and FSA administration and ensure correct deductions and timely remittances.
• Provide tax information and withholding calculations for RSU settlements and potentially administer RSU processes with Accounting and Legal.
• Manage quarterly and year-end employment tax reporting (W-2, 1099, Form 940/941) and related filings.
• Own payroll GL reconciliations and support month-end close; oversee payroll audits (401(k), workers' compensation).
• Design, document, and maintain payroll controls and audit-readiness across spreadsheets and systems.
• Improve processes with automation to scale before adding headcount.
• Supervise and develop the lead payroll specialist.
