Job summary

Confidential Luxury Travel Retailer Company in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to oversee payroll, payroll accounting, and HRIS functions for our regional operations.

You will lead the payroll team, ensure accuracy, drive process improvements, and coordinate with HR, Finance, and external auditors in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.
• 5+ years of payroll and HR experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Knowledge of Success Factors, SAP HR, and SAP FI preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel.
• Knowledge of Kronos and ADP Vantage preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to think both big-picture and detail-level.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage diverse personalities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pay data, payroll processing, payroll accounting, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and internal/external audit requirements.
• Manage team workload, productivity, and performance, including cross-training for backup coverage.
• Ensure data flow between HR, Timekeeping, Payroll, and General Ledger systems (Success Factors, SAP HR, Kronos, ADP Vantage, SAP FI).
• Oversee regular and special pay runs, including bonuses, merit increases, and imputed income.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements.
• Handle escalated payroll inquiries and ad hoc/quarterly/year-end reporting for Finance and auditors.
• Oversee payroll accounting for benefit-related liability accounts (PTO, pension, severance) and tax liability accounts.
• Manage relationship with third-party payroll provider, including service accuracy and billing.
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors during payroll and year-end audits.
• Own payroll-related reporting: month-end, analysis, earnings, budget, and ad hoc requests.
• Be the go-to resource for U.S. HR divisions on payroll rules and regulations.
