Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in San Diego is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to lead end-to-end payroll operations across multiple entities, including salaried, hourly, and stipends, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

The role requires 5+ years in payroll with at least 3 years in leadership, experience with Workday or UKG, and advanced Excel skills. This hybrid position is based in San Diego with significant onsite presence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance and regulations.
• Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, UKG, or similar.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle payroll processing with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage and mentor payroll staff, including training and performance oversight.
• Ensure compliance across multi-state payroll and applicable tax regulations.
• Review payroll inputs including timekeeping, compensation changes, and deductions.
• Partner cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies and support employee inquiries.
• Lead payroll audits and maintain data integrity within payroll systems.
• Support reporting and continuous process improvements.
• Oversee payroll compliance for foreign national workforce, including specialized tax reporting.
• Maintain international tax systems and related documentation processes.
