Western Union in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive platform modernization across NA and LACA. You will design, develop, and support applications, internal tools, workflow automations, and platform capabilities using AI-assisted engineering practices.

Role emphasizes Java and Spring Boot, AWS microservices, cloud data solutions, distributed caching, observability, and collaboration with product, operations, and risk teams to deliver scalable, secure systems for customers

Qualifications

• 4+ years software engineering with focus on security, reliability, scalability.
• 4+ years cloud-native apps and microservices with Java and Spring Boot.
• 3+ years AWS (Azure or other clouds) with microservices and cloud architectures.
• 1+ years event-driven architectures.
• 1+ years cloud databases (PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB) and distributed caching (Redis, ElastiCache).
• Experience in modernization, migration, or legacy transformation.
• 1+ years Agile development.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to payment platform modernization across NA and LACA.
• Design, develop, test, and support apps, workflows, internal tools, APIs, and platform services with AI-assisted engineering.
• Develop and modernize services using Java, Spring Boot, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native patterns.
• Build and maintain AWS-based microservices and cloud-native apps meeting performance and reliability goals.
• Develop cloud-native data solutions with PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB.
• Implement and optimize distributed caching with Redis, Valkey, ElastiCache.
• Collaborate with product, operations, architecture, risk, compliance, QA, and customer care.
